Future ¬

Japanese

Building steadily for the future.

The getting of ISO 9002, the first standard amongst all others in the business world.

LANKA NAIGAI(PVT) LTD received ISO 9002 on the 15th of November 2001.
From the beginning we weren’t in doubt about whether LANKA NAIGAI needed< such an international standard or not.

Because of the excellent standard of their products indicated that such a standard was unnecessary. But along with the times, such ideas are dated. At a time when the standardization of goods and (P.L rule?) has become the basis of production. The glove industry isnft an exception and must go along with the times. In November 2001 the ISO International standard began.

In those days, LANKA NAIGAI had a reliable system but they didnft have any follow up process to deal with faulty merchandise or any written manuals to find out about quality systems.

It wasnft easy to change an already established system into one where manual were the norm for quality control. It was, I believe, because of the great cooperation of the local staff and the main office that we could get this set up within one year. Itfs said that amongst the glove manufacturers, we at NAIGAI are the first to receive the ISO standard.Wefll endeavor to fulfill this mission to offer quality and the standardization of our product without letting down the ISO.

The days of glove production as a prosperous local industry, wefve started to grapple with the computerization to make it even more efficient. In the past the computer was mainly used in the office as an eoffice computerf. They were enormous compared to the modern PCs. And then, we bought one and started doing our office business with it.

At that time, the production of gloves was divided into different processes : Outside orders and subcontracted producers was the usual way. Now we have computerized our outside orders, deliveries, stock control, wages and accounts.

We started as a team and began with gWhat are the codes for the computer?h and gWhatfs the master registration?h Since then we have come a long way and now develop.

Our own software

The times of the telex and facsimile were the way of communicating written documents has changed. Itfs evolved from the typewriter to the word processor. As the next step in computerization, wefve included sales control, (distribution of stock, sales, receipts)

Then stock, salaries, accountants and our main business. Wefve also included the Macintosh computers to assist with designs and to write specifications.Computers control the sewing machinery to sew and cut the simpler parts like trademarks and badges and to make different sizes glove patterns bags and so on. Wefve mechanized and planned the high efficiency for production.

also modified and improved our software. Much has changed and all of the production facilities have shifted to abroad. Our company also has a plant in Sri Lanka and this has changed the way of business a great deal. So we have devised new ways to raise the level of production systems and now have in place modest LAN systems with a center server.

In the former world of the office computer which was rather close,as business data was the only data it could use and it needed a technical change to convert information. With the LAN system, we can easily convert data and run software systems such as Excell, etc.

‚f‚r‚o iProject for the efficiency of businessj

A company that doesnft train themselves wonft make progress. The IT program at NAIGAI is one that supports self-training. The level of the staff using computers is pretty high and we also give computer classes during working hours. But there isnft any progress amongst those who feel itfs only natural to be given these classes or those who are satisfied with their present levels.

After class, itfs not our policy to ask if the information has been understood or not. People who didnft pick things up in class are offered a wealth of information through books on the programs on Windows, Excell,Word, Access or they are free to consult others.

The purpose of all this is that we can all do a better job. The company is a collective of individuals so without personal progress, the company itself wonft make progress.
